The Little Lebowski Urban Achievers
Some of the wonderful Little Lebowski Urban Achievers describe their wonderful Saturday helping out the Eastside Baby Corner.

The My-Little-Pony Tricycle or the Big Wheel? I know...it is a tough choice.
These “sweet rides” are part of the children’s items that the Eastside Baby Corner distributes for free to families in need. Last Saturday we had the opportunity to help the EBC with cleaning up and organizing items in their Issaquah location. Our group built shelves, organized children’s clothing, put together cubicles, and more. After finding out that I have no clue on how to differentiate between girls and boys clothing I decided to focus on building shelves. My experience putting together cheap Swedish furniture (IKEA) was beneficial in putting together a surprisingly sturdy shelf.
At the end of the day it was good to meet new team members and help a worthwhile charity. We also had a chance to play with some of the toys...and looking back I think the Big Wheel was a solid choice on my part!

Onesie, 2T, 3T…oh my!
Reach into a bin and select a tiny garment. Take a look at the size…hold on…this is labeled in weight and not in age. What size would a 15-20 pound baby be? Maybe a 12-month, or 24-months size, or a 2T? Or maybe the weight directly corresponds to the age, so maybe 18 months is the correct size? How quickly do babies grow anyway? Not having children of my own, this became a new experience for me. I learned to quickly compare t-shirts, onesies, and other clothing to known sizes to figure out this labeling system.
This was only one of several tasks the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers tackled on Saturday at the Eastside Baby Corner. We sorted baby clothes, games, books, puzzles, shopping bags, bedding and more as we helped the Baby Corner re-organize their space. We built shelving and cubicles in an effort to make their donated space more efficient. This organization provides items to thousands of families in need and being able to located items for packaging is a priority here. They rely on volunteers to organize and package items for the families they support. It was a fun day helping out at the Baby Corner.
